New to the area and tried a few other places. IL Forno was the winner. Pizza and salads are amazing!!! Very happy with their service.

I picked up takeout from here and had a positive experience overall. The food was prepared quickly, and the pickup process was seamless. The portions were generous for the price. The interior is cute, rustic, and casual, offering a cozy vibe. The restaurant's name translates to "wood-fired oven" in Italian, and their pizza showcased this well. Pollo Parmigiana - The breaded chicken breast was well-prepared, but the overcooked pasta and was disappointing. (3/5) Margherita Pie - A standout dish. The Neapolitan-style pizza had a great crust with just the right char, thanks to their wood-fired oven. (4/5)

Went here about a week ago, fantastic food and service, especially Austin who served us. Very polite and sweet mvp Austin

I didn't realize until walking in, IL Forno A Legna (English translation- "The Wood Fired Oven") is a sit down restaurant. There is no walk up by the slice counter. The interior is trendy clean natural wood & black paint industrial modern decor. I ordered a whole large Napoli Pizza to go. In the time it took for me to go to the ladies room, maybe 5-ish minutes... the pizza was finished. My immediate evaluations: 1. Fresh, hot and delicious - I am glad I had to buy a whole pie and did not place the order in advance, it was so good super hot right out the oven. 2. The crust and veggies were so flavorful it is an immediate favorite. The only change I would request next time would be an even distribution of toppings on each slice. Some slices were missing eggplant, tomato and onion. Excellent, welcoming and quick service.

Il forno alegna is my favorite casual Italian eatery in NJ. I know that Razza in Jersey City has a reputation for having the best pizza in the state. I respectfully disagree. Il forno alegna is better all around. I've visited many times with many friends and they all agree that this spot is a GEM. Not only do they offer the most delicious wood fired pizza (fresh ingredients, a crispy crust, and not heavy or greasy in any way), their pasta options are DELICIOUS. I've tried many of their entree options. I highly recommend the beef lasagna, the shrimp parmigiana, and the chicken franchese. My favorite pizza is the margarita pie. Also in terms of appetizers, I usually get the wood fired wings (not overly wet with sauce and they fall off of the bone). However, I also recommend the meatballs and the cheesy bread. The prices are great and the ambiance is casual. Dress however you like. The service is always good and my food has always come out hot (a must for me in order to provide 5 stars to an eatery). If you try it you will not regret it.

Wow, I just ordered a pie from their food truck, I mean, food BUS, and it was amazing! We didn't take a picture before inhaling 3 slices because we could tell at first sight that it would be amazing! I don't get very excited about Pizza, but I would definitely order from them again.

Food 5/5: We got a takeout order of 2 pizzas and a salad for 3 of us. We all really loved the buratta pizza - the sauce in particular was delicious. The goat cheese pizza was good, a bit too sweet for me but my friends loved it. We also got the forno salad and the nuts came on the side which threw me off but I love the balsamic dressing. Service 5/5: We ordered pickup via the website which said 50-80 min and we called and got it in 40 min. I independently found it on Yelp and then my friend said it's her favorite spot Very friendly waitstaff; they even called to let me know they didn't have almonds and substituted walnuts for the salad.

I had lunch with my new work place associates. I usually don't like forced socializing but if there's free food then I'm there. it was very busy for lunch. there was all sorts of different demographic of people dining or getting take out here. I saw police officer, people in business suits, and construction people. I got the lunch special of the burata and a side arugula salad. other work place associates expertly ordered burata with pepperoni. I was so Jelly. but I didn't want to be that guy and change my order after 8 people placed their order.

This is a popular BYOB Italian restaurant in downtown Rahway, a block from the train station. You can eat in noisy front room, quieter back room, or outside weather permitting. We ate here Sunday eve early. Service was OK. They were quite busy. We started with a Buratta appetizer. OK, but really no oil or vinegar on it. Also, no bread. What Italian restaurant gives no bread? You can buy garlic bread. Entrees were Chicken Marsala and Chicken Piccata. Good, not great. Prices reasonable. So, overall 4 stars, not worthy of 5 stars.
